Hikmet Hajiyev urges Russia to take responsibility for downing of AZAL flight

Baku expects Moscow to take responsibility for the downing of the AZAL aircraft en route from Baku to Grozny and to ensure justice in this matter, stated Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.

“Such incidents can occur even between neighboring countries. It all began with the crash of the AZAL aircraft, which deeply shocked Azerbaijani society. The incident occurred on Russian territory, in Russian airspace, and we now know how it happened — it’s no longer a secret. As a neighbor and partner, Azerbaijan expects Russia to take responsibility and ensure justice in this case,” Hajiyev said.
