Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that revanchist sentiments still persist in Armenia, and that such rhetoric cannot lead to positive results.

According to the foreign minister, Armenia is on the eve of an important political stage, and the upcoming parliamentary elections will be significant for the country’s future. Bayramov noted that there are still forces in Armenia’s political circles that hold revanchist views toward Azerbaijan and use this issue in their election campaign.

The minister emphasized that the Azerbaijani state is closely monitoring the ongoing processes and shaping its policy primarily on the basis of national interests, strengthening the country’s power and ensuring its further development as the leading state in the region.

Speaking about the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, Bayramov noted that work is continuing. According to him, this is a long-term and technically complex process that cannot be completed in a short period of time. He recalled that during the visit of an Azerbaijani delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Armenia, three documents were agreed upon defining the procedure and regulations for further work.

The foreign minister also commented on the incident involving drones launched in the direction of Azerbaijani territory. According to Bayramov, Azerbaijan responded promptly to the incident and immediately began contacts with the Iranian side.

The minister said that numerous contacts had taken place, including a phone call between the President of Iran and the President of Azerbaijan, as well as his own conversation with the Iranian foreign minister. The Iranian side stated that the drones had not been launched from Iranian territory, describing the incident as a provocation by third countries, and promised to conduct a serious investigation into the matter.
