In this perspective, Turkey and Russia are purportedly the core nations of a union between the Turkic and (Eastern) Slavic civilizations under the Eurasianist idea.

On July 12th 2020, Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry reported a military incident in the north-west of the country, namely the province of Tovuz, near the border with Armenia. Although the border shootouts are not infrequent in the said province and many considered it to be another, one-time incident, the situation soon got out of control and quickly grew into almost a full-scale war.

The protection of LGTB rights today is considered part of the progressive Western politics, while the Islamic world appears now to the public eye as a wild land ruled by brutality and homophobia. However, the situation was reversed only a couple of centuries ago: in the West, homosexuality was considered a crime, while the rest of the world was rather indifferent to it. It was the Europeans who spread homophobia everywhere, and the fundamentalists took the imported European views as their own tradition.
