Romania's Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu highlighted on Friday the importance that the European Union attaches to the countries in its Eastern Neighbourhood, as well as the EU interest in an increased involvement in the region, including in order to solve prolonged conflicts, in talks in Baku with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and with head of Azerbaijani diplomacy Jeyhun Bayramov.

Although Russia’s Caspian Flotilla remains the dominant naval force on the Caspian, it is not the only one that matters anymore. All four other littoral states—Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan—have been building up their own naval presences, particularly since various intra-regional disputes over access to oil and natural gas resources and infrastructure remain lively.

The Saudi-Azeri Parliamentary Friendship Committee at the Shoura Council, headed by Dr. Fayez bin Abdullah Al-Shahri, held a video conference meeting with its peer in Azerbaijan headed by chairperson of the action group of the Azeri-Saudi parliamentary relations at the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Fatma Yildirim, in the presence of members of the Shoura Council representing the parliamentary friendship committee.
