To test the accuracy of astrology, a French scientist gave an ad in the paper offering a free star sign personality analysis to anyone who sent in their date and place of birth. Each of the 150 people who sent their submissions received the same "star sign personality analysis" and a feedback questionnaire in which they could indicate how accurate their profile was.

In 1589, Galileo refuted the blind belief in Aristotle's physics with his free fall experiments by dropping balls of different masses from the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
