“Heritage in Stitches” exhibition opens, showcasing Uzbekistan’s embroidery traditions

The exhibition celebrates the deep-rooted friendship and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, highlighted by the growing personal relations between their leaders.

Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center, emphasized the exhibition’s role in strengthening the friendly relations through cultural exchange. He thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for her support and introduced the first event dedicated to Uzbekistan at the Center, including a performance recognized by UNESCO.

Saida Mirziyoyeva expressed her delight in showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage through the exhibition, emphasizing the historical and cultural bonds shared with Azerbaijan. The exhibition, a collaboration with the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, features over 140 items of decorative arts, highlighting the resurgence of traditional crafts and the special significance of gold embroidery patterns from Bukhara.

Visitors can explore the exhibition, including sections on gold-embroidered chapans, decorative suzani embroidery, and ancient jewelry, until July 1, 2024, at the Heydar Aliyev Center. National music of Uzbekistan complemented the opening event, celebrating the shared heritage and friendship between the two nations.
