Official Baku is considering the possibility of completely cutting ties with the European Parliament in response to what it sees as the body’s biased stance toward Azerbaijan.
According to Trend News Agency, citing a reliable source, although contacts with the European Parliament have already been effectively suspended, an option is now being discussed to adopt a formal decision on the complete termination of interaction.
It is noted that the trigger for such a move was the discussion in the European Parliament of a draft resolution titled “Support for Democratic Resilience in Armenia.” Despite the document’s formal focus on supporting Armenia, a number of its provisions, in Baku’s view, contain unfounded accusations and demands directed at Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani authorities view the developments as another manifestation of a one-sided approach and interference in the country’s internal affairs.
